Original Poem: Jabberdooky

When a fellow fencer came to me with a plea to help write a mocking poem or song about a king of a non East kingdom at Pennsic, who announced that he wasn't taking shots from RBG (rubber band guns) and was subsequently asked by the marshals to kindly GTFO... I couldn't say no!  (I also took like 4 months to get it done, sorry Brigid) but... I present to you...

Original Poem: An Ode to Crown by the Blade

When the first fundraising auction for Matthew and Fia went out, I put forth an offering of crafting an original song, story or poem for the winner. The winner, as it happened, was my dear friend Countess Megha, a bardic inspiration and colleague, who told me that she wanted me to write something about the upcoming Crown by Rapier. "Well, cool..." I thought "I mean, I've got time, we haven't even DONE it yet, we're not even certain when it'll be scheduled." Fast-forward about a year, and the day of Crown dawned. I decided not to fight, but I was there working with the list heralds and watching SO MANY of my friends step into the lists.

Original Story: Gwillim the Smith, or the Devil and the Anvil

Gwilim the Smith

I spent about 7 years shoeing horses as a thing to seek my joy, and while I no longer work on horses I still enjoy blacksmithing. One thing about smiths is that there is a tendency to let the hammer strike the heel of the anvil between blows, not always, but from time to time, and people ask "why do you do that?" and here is one possible answer.

ARTS & SCIENCES: Of Oak and Meadowsweet and Broom - A Narrative Poetic Adaptation from the Mabinogion

I was honored at the 2025 East Kingdom A&S championship to be chosen as Sovereign's Champion for my work in creating a narrative poem "Of Oak and Meadowsweet and Broom" as an adaptation of a portion of the Welsh Mabinogion.

Included here are the research documentation submitted for the work, and a recording of the narrative poem.

Original Song: Robin and the Lady May

For the Bardic War Online, we were tasked with various challenges, and one of mine was Original Song In a Period Style (or on period topic) and I chose the immortal Robin Hood. There is no tale of Robin and getting outsmarted by a lady in the wood that I'm aware of... but this sounds like something that could (should?) have happened.

Original Song: Kerridwen's Ride

No shit... there we were!
In my early days of the SCA, I dwelt in the Outlands and had a number of other young bold household mates, including Keridwen Andersdottir. Keridwen was (and still is) a Registered Badass and was a terror on the armored field... there was one battle where we came back to a muster point and everyone started hearing about how she'd overwhelmed the line by USING ONE OF THE OTHER TEAM'S SHIELDS AS A RAMP. ... so MAANNNNY years later, this became a song. Love you Dwen!
